The following is what you need to do to make your phone email work. Please note this before you continue. During setup, you will see POP3, IMAP and Exchange; what you need to choose is either POP3 or IMAP, but we strongly recommend you choosing IMAP.
Exchange is mainly used if you are using a windows server, but since we use a linux server POP3 or IMAP is what you need.

Exim and Dovecot are the SMTP and IMAP/POP service names, respectively (much like apache is a webserver name). These are bundled with cpanel to provide mail services. In short, exim receives mail from the internet, and sends mail from the server, while dovecot handles allowing you to check your mailbox.

Now read the below to know the best to choose for yourself.

Notes:

  • IMAP email access coordinates between the server and your mail application. Messages that you have read, deleted, or replied to will show up as such, both on the server and in the mail application. This is best recommended.

  • POP3 does not coordinate with the server. Messages that the mail application marks as read, deleted, or replied to will not show up as such on the server. This means that future mail downloads with POP3 will show all messages as unread. This is good if you want to save your phone memory from running out on-time.

  • The system uses SMTP to send outgoing mail.

  • We recommend that you use POP3 over SSL/TLS or IMAP over SSL/TLS because they provide increased security for your interactions with the remote mail server.

To get more details of what you are about to read, login to your email account in your website using yourdomainname/webmail; e.g if your domain name is www.freesms.com; then to login to your webmail, go to www.freesms.com/webmail, on login click on Configure Mail Client

Remember that before you can be able to login to your domain name webmail, you must have created your email address. to create your email address, you must login to your cPanel to do that

To set up the email client in your phone so that you can be sending and receiving email, you must do the following

Before we proceed, it is paramount we inform you that this process is of two type (Automatic and Manual Setting), if the automatic setting does not work for you, you should try the maunal setting.

For Automatic Setting, Do The Below

1. Open your phone and click on the envelop icon written Email

2. Put your Email Address and Password, then click on the next botton (If you have created an email address in your cpanel called freewebsite@freesms.com in the colunm wriiten email address; you will put freewebsite@freesms.com there and put the password you entered when creating the email address freewebsite@freesms.com

3.After choosing whether POP3 or IMAP, then you will see mail settings. Firstly you will see incoming settings, later after clicking next, you will see outgoing  settings

POP3
If you choose POP3, you will see this:
On Incoming Settings, below is what you are suppose to see. And if you see anything different fron this, correct it to be what is written here

Username: This is your email address
Password: This is your email address password

POP3 Server: pop.yourdomainname (since your domain name is www.freesms.com, it will be pop.freesms.com)
Port: 110 [But if you have an ssl certificate in your domain, and you have choosed SSL/TLS in Security Type, then Port will be 995)]

But we recommend choosing STARTTLS (Accept all certificates)
instead of choosing None in Security Type if you dont have ssl certificate in your domain; because STARTTLS (Accept all certificates) is a command the mailserver uses to initiate a secure connection after connecting on the regular port (110 for POP3, 143 for IMAP), that means if you choose STARTTLS (Accept all certificates), you have to still leave the port to be 110

Security Type: STARTTLS (Accept all certificates) [But you will see None in the box, and if you have an ssl certificate in your domain, you should choose SSL/TLS or better still choose STARTTLS (Accept all certificates) because choosing STARTTLS (Accept all certificates) is better than choosing None
Delete email from server: Here you decide what you want. You can choose Never or choose When I delete from inbox
After all the above, click next and outgoing settings will come out.

If you choose POP3, you will see this:
On Outgoing Settings, below is what you are suppose to see. And if you see anything different fron this, correct it to be what is written here

Port: 587 [Some times 25 and 26 can work, but if you have an ssl certificate in your domain, and you have choosed SSL/TLS in Security Type, then Port will be 465)]

But we recommend choosing STARTTLS (Accept all certificates) instead of choosing None in Security Type if you dont have ssl certificate in your domain and when you choose STARTTLS (Accept all certificates), you have to put the port to be 587
